to be found?

Girls don’t cry in the dark
It's the bright light of the day that breaks into parts,
when sunlight reflects in tears.
Uncovered is what was concealed, each color blending into the next - rainbows can't be reached,
but be forever locked up within our souls;
there they roll, united, as we are now.

In the shadows of the parks, we used to feel apart;
we've been part, and yet somehow different.

We now grow bigger, we now grow strong.
What was invisible at first, glows,
outshines us, reassures and combines us,
is providing ground, and walls, and homes.

Strengths can be redefined.
Like the sunlight that cleaves through our tears,
we can appear as something new.
We can repaint what seems old,
reinvent what was approved,
with rainbows on our souls and crystals in our eyes,
we don't claim better, but we can paint with deeper shades.

It's an often-thrown-out question: can our body withstand the same? Our body is a pillow. Like fractures mending into stronger bones, each scar becomes a testament to change.

Is it stillness
the runner seeks, or is she trying to escape it?

The third edition of Skateboarding from the Female Gaze by Irene Schweizer took place in December 2024 at VC7 Zürich by Mia Odermatt. This year, alongside 8mm films and skateboards, the space was touched by the delicate presence of silk scarves, installed by by none other than Frederik Kunkel, weaving their own quiet movement through the exhibition.
